Overview
Carried out in collaboration between Atılım University and the Rahmi Koç Museum, this term project aimed to create a dedicated exhibition and experience design for the Ford Model T in the museum's collection. The Model T, one of the turning points in automotive history, was given a museum experience designed to present it to the visitor not just as an object, but within its own era, story and engineering value.
Goal
To build an experience that presents the Ford Model T in the museum collection to the visitor not just as a displayed vehicle, but together with its historical importance, production story and engineering value. The aim was to turn research into spatial design, transforming a single vehicle into an integrated and memorable museum narrative that tells the story of its era.
Approach
The work was turned into spatial design following an in-depth research process.
Research-based structure. The history, production story and period importance of the Ford Model T were researched in detail; the exhibition decisions were built on top of this research.
Experience-focused design. An experience design was developed that placed the visitor's relationship with the vehicle at its center, handling circulation, staging and the flow of the narrative together.
A dedicated exhibition room for the vehicle. A dedicated exhibition room and museum space were designed for the Model T, highlighting the vehicle within its own atmosphere.
Outcome
A research-based exhibition and experience design project dedicated to the Ford Model T was created. By bringing together a dedicated exhibition room designed for the vehicle, the spatial layout and the visitor experience flow, the work turned a single vehicle into an integrated museum narrative.
